The Wind of Change - A Message of Hope for Conservation

We received a message on social-media today, after inviting a passionate supporter to form part of a team and help one of our campaigns. It read:

"Honestly I could cry reading this. I'm usually so depressed & demoralised & feel so helpless about our disappearing natural world. You have just given me some hope"

Well let me start by saying that I understand why so many feel this way. People stand up and ask for your vote, saying that they care. Then they set off, with that vested power, on a mission to frack and destroy the natural world, which provides THEIR air, food, health water and wellbeing, as well as YOURS!

So to all those that can see the link between nature and human health, here is our message of hope:

1. 26 Awesome wildlife organisations have got together this week and produced the Response For Nature Report. They aren't power-mad politicians that spend boxing day chasing a fox, scaring it senseless and then helping to commit an act of pure carnage on it. They are experts and guardians of the natural world. One headline, included in the Response For Nature Report, sums up the importance of their work and the life systems that allow humans to walk the earth:

"The natural world, it's biodiversity and it's constituent ecosystems are critically important to our well-being and economic prosperity"

Incidentally, the above quote did not come from the wildlife charities, who produced the report. It originates from the findings of 500 experts in natural sciences, economics and social sciences.

The Response For Nature Report recommends 10 actions that the government should take to safeguard our world. This is ironic when you consider that the current government has, already, torn down 10 key environmental policies. If someone says that they care about you, and then does this, they must surely be telling "porkies"!

So! First part of our message of hope! "We are blessed to have a wide variety of wildlife charities that are passionate about protecting the natural world which provides us with life!"

2. We have recently witnessed a string of successes that came from one simple thing.....TEAMWORK:

The Conservation Volunteers at Skelton Grange won a £12,500
eco heating system by the narrowest of margins
Thousands of our amazing supporters got involved to help
Butterfly Conservation record their biggest #ButterflyCount EVER!!

Against all the odds Buglife won $50,000 to help their amazing work.
Thousands of our passionate followers got involved across one weekend to help make it happen
The second part of our message of hope thus reads "By joining together with others, YOU can create change. Unite and use the pure and peaceful power of communication, to show others just how beautiful and important nature is to us all"

3. Our wildlife charities and council parks teams are carrying out incredible work to protect, restore and enhance habitat across the landscape. this is remarkable, as anyone that has looked after, even the smallest of gardens can appreciate. Everyone who is connected to nature, by work, volunteering or by love and appreciation, has their own role to play. There are millions of members of wildlife charities, and you all have information about the importance of nature. If YOU all rise, with passion, then YOU will raise awareness to those that have not being given the facts.

So the third part of our message is "We all have a role to play, and if millions get active and rise peacefully, then change WILL come. What a great story to tell your grandchildren - "I was the change that restored our natural world"".

So our message of hope is:

We are blessed to have a wide variety of wildlife charities that are passionate about protecting the natural world, which provides us with life! By joining together with others, YOU can create change. Unite and use the pure and peaceful power of communication, to show others just how beautiful and important nature is to us all. We all have a role to play, and if millions get active and rise peacefully, then change WILL come. What a great story to tell your grandchildren - "I was the change that restored our natural world".

That is our message, now please rise and join hands to bring the Wind of change!

You may wish to start, by adding your voice to this thunderclap, seeking #JusticeForAnnie. "Annie" was a Hen Harrier (a graceful, persecuted bird of prey), that was found shot on a grouse moor! Let's see how many supporters you can add to the campaign. Who knows? You might just spark a debate in parliament regarding the persecution of UK wildlife! Simply click "Join this thunderclap", and add your Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr accounts.
